Back to School

We spent the majority of August in New York on our own special immersion program, also known as visiting the family. Both kids were thrust into an English-only environment...and they thrived. Ms. P. seems (at the moment, at least) to be more comfortable expressing herself in English. Mr. Mini-P, who was mostly non-verbal when we left for the U.S., is now chatting up a storm and discovering new words every day.

For the moment, we have put learning the alphabet and letter recognition aside and are instead focusing on acquiring new vocabulary by reading books. Ms. P is especially enjoying the Fancy Nancy series, which introduces new words in each book. Mr. Mini-P can't get enough of "Goodnight Moon."

Alphabet writing and sight word recognition will be coming back to the stage in October sometime, but for now, a book a day (or more, *cough, cough*) is just what the doctor ordered.
